Hey there! What’s shaking? This weekend, Matt and I had a rare 24 hours with NO children. We ordered takeout and drank Pét-Nat, slept in and made zero snacks. Today, the band is back together so we’re cueing up Encanto (again) and making pizza. Have a good one!
Let’s go for a walk
The days are getting longer (the sun won’t set before 5 p.m. until November) and, yes, it’s still freezing, but there’s nothing more simultaneously energizing and grounding than going for a walk. So let’s do it – pop in your headphones, put on an extra pair of pants and go!
I consider walking to be an important part of my day-to-day routine. It’s nearly non-negotiable and part of what makes me, well, me! At the start of this year, I noticed my walking habit had waned. And while I can’t blame all my life’s problems on lockdowns and virtual school, the timelines do conveniently synch up. But lately, I’m taking my daily walks with vigor and feeling so much better because of it.
By the end of the walk, I feel strong, centered and invigorated - cheeks flushed and fingers and toes slightly numb. A burst of exercise and fresh air means I’m clear-headed and more capable to tackle whatever the day may bring.
For me, one of the keys to putting one foot in front of the other has been to pencil it in. Since my Outlook calendar (and my children) own me, the only way to truly commit to my walking habit has been to integrate it into my schedule. Usually, this means having a quick bite at lunchtime and then going for a 20-minute neighborhood loop.
What about you? Do you enjoy a daily walk?
